Found in New Zealand, the UK, and other temperate regions, these cattle are right at home on farms, lifestyle blocks, and conservation projects. Their smaller size and calm nature make them easy to care for and a perfect fit for a wide range of landscapes.

Habitat

Grasslands

They thrive in grasslands, pastures, and hilly farmland and are adaptable to a range of climates and environments, preferring open areas with abundant grazing and shelter from extreme weather.

Herbivores, feeding primarily on grass, hay, and forage crops, their efficient grazing habits make them ideal for pasture management, and they can supplement their diet with vegetables or grains when needed.

Gentle & Calm

Miniature Galloway cattle are gentle, social, and calm, often forming close-knit herds. They are easy to handle, enjoy grazing together, and are well-suited to small farms, lifestyle blocks, and conservation grazing programs.

Size

110–130 cm

Compact, with adults typically measuring about 110–130 cm at the shoulder and weighing 350–450 kg, making them easier to manage than standard Galloway cattle while retaining their robust build.

Life Span

12-16 years

Miniature Galloway cattle typically live 12–16 years, with some individuals reaching up to 18 years in well-managed farm or reserve environments.

Conservation Status

Not at Risk

Considered not at risk, their populations are stable, supported by dedicated breeders and small-scale farms that maintain the breed for heritage, conservation grazing, and lifestyle purposes.
